Sr. Scrum Master - AI/ML

About the role

This permanent opening in Toronto is for a seasoned Scrum Master who can also bring strong project leadership, stakeholder coordination, and delivery management capabilities. The role focuses on steering Agile teams working on strategic technology programs and AI-enabled initiatives, while serving as the connection point between business leaders, technical teams, AI specialists, and senior executives. The position is a new requirement and follows a hybrid schedule with three office days per week.

What you will do

• Run core Scrum ceremonies such as sprint planning, daily stand-ups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives.
• Promote Agile ways of working and make sure the team follows Scrum practices effectively.
• Oversee project schedules, milestones, dependencies, risks, and delivery commitments.
• Monitor progress, team throughput, and delivery performance, then share updates with stakeholders.
• Identify blockers and help the team resolve them so work can move forward smoothly.
• Work with business leaders, product owners, architects, and engineering teams to keep priorities aligned.
• Set and manage expectations across internal and external stakeholders.
• Support decision-making, address cross-team issues, and help resolve conflicts.
• Provide regular status communication and executive-ready reporting.
• Coordinate AI, GenAI, machine learning, and automation programs across business and technology groups.
• Assist in identifying AI use cases, prioritizing them, and planning implementation.
• Track milestones, dependencies, and adoption measures for AI initiatives.
• Ensure AI work remains aligned with business goals and outcomes.
• Partner closely with data science, data engineering, security, compliance, and infrastructure teams.
• Work with C-level leaders, business heads, and senior management.
• Create executive dashboards, governance updates, and steering committee materials.
• Lead governance meetings and ensure action items are completed.
• Convert technical ideas into clear business language for executive audiences.
• Spot project risks and define practical mitigation plans.
• Support governance compliance, budget tracking, resource planning, and overall project health.
• Drive ongoing improvement across delivery teams and working practices.

Requirements

• At least 8 years of total experience across project management and Scrum Master roles.
• Solid hands-on experience leading Scrum and Agile teams.
• Proven background in project or program management.
• Strong ability to manage stakeholders, including executive-level partners.
• Experience working with technology delivery teams, architects, and engineering leaders.
• Working knowledge of AI, GenAI, machine learning, and automation programs.
• Experience leading cross-functional teams spread across different locations.
• Excellent communication, facilitation, and negotiation skills.
• Strong capability in risk management, dependency coordination, and governance.
• Preferred exposure to cloud platforms such as AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
• Familiarity with DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, and modern software delivery processes is an advantage.
• Understanding of data engineering, analytics platforms, and AI/ML-based solutions is preferred.
• Experience with enterprise applications, microservices, and complex technology environments is a plus.
• Ability to use delivery and collaboration tools such as Jira, Confluence, Azure DevOps, and Microsoft Project.
• Preferred certifications include CSM, PSM, PMP, PRINCE2, SAFe Agilist, SAFe Scrum Master, or an Agile Project Management certification.

Employment type: Permanent.

Work arrangement: Hybrid, with three days per week in the office.

Office location: Toronto.

Salary range: CAD 100,000 to CAD 115,000 per year.

The final offer will depend on the local market, geographic location, and relevant job-related factors such as knowledge, skills, qualifications, experience, and education or training. Compensation may also include benefits and other incentives where applicable.
