Role overview
The Service Operations Assistant supports the service function by making sure field engineers are supplied with the right parts, certified tools, and well-prepared job kits for daily assignments. The position combines inventory control, technical equipment upkeep, procurement coordination, and housekeeping responsibilities to help keep the service workspace efficient, safe, and professional.
Store and inventory support
- Handle the service store’s day-to-day stock movement, including receiving, picking, packing, and tagging spare parts.
- Assemble job kits for field service engineers so they have the required items before visiting customer locations.
- Carry out routine stock counts and keep track of inventory levels to raise replenishment needs on time.
- Assist the main warehouse team with loading, unloading, and moving cargo or stock as needed.
Equipment care and calibration
- Manage all engineer test and measurement tools and maintain an accurate master register of assets.
- Perform basic maintenance and minor technical repairs on equipment, such as battery checks, fuse replacement, and general mechanical inspection.
- Coordinate outside calibration schedules with third-party laboratories and ensure tools remain within valid certification dates.
- Keep detailed calibration records, including certificate files and As-Found/As-Left information, to support audits.
Facility housekeeping and upkeep
- Take ownership of the cleanliness and orderliness of the service department, workshop, and store areas each day.
- Keep the workspace uncluttered and aligned with safety expectations.
- Assist with general facility upkeep and help resolve small building-related issues.
Administrative and procurement assistance
- Turn supplier quotations into internal purchase requests and follow them through the delivery process.
- Help update service manuals, documentation, and digital records as directed by the service manager.
Requirements
- ITE Nitec or Diploma qualification in Engineering or Logistics.
- 1 to 3 years of experience in a warehouse, store, or technical service setting.
- Practical mechanical or electrical ability to carry out minor repairs on tools and equipment.
- Comfortable using Microsoft Excel and other Office applications for tracking and documentation.
- Prior exposure to procurement processes or ERP systems will be an added advantage.
- Physically capable of active work, including cleaning tasks and handling heavy cargo or equipment.
- Well organized, dependable, and attentive to deadlines and audit requirements.
