What the Product Does

The platform combines deep domain expertise with an AI-ready data foundation and an agentic interface. It helps customers handle complex work such as strategic modelling, scheduling, operational reporting, and analysing visitor feedback.

Behind the scenes, the AI layer coordinates real business logic and APIs, including integration packs, custom datasets, benchmarks, context-control tools, and query and visualisation capabilities.

The main area of growth is the agentic interface, where new product development is focused. This includes streaming, context-window handling, tool orchestration, and sandboxed execution.

The Role

This position is for a product-focused software engineer who can influence both what is built and how it is built. You will work hands-on in the codebase every day, while also contributing through design decisions, technical guidance, mentoring, and helping the wider team move together.

The team is full-stack, but individual engineers may have stronger depth on either the backend data side or the frontend product side. The expectation is to bring deep expertise in one area while still being able and willing to contribute across the stack.

What You’ll Bring

You should be able to take complicated problems and turn them into clear, practical, and elegant solutions. Strong communication skills and a genuine understanding of customer needs are important, along with the ability to quickly grasp the purpose behind each piece of work.

The ideal candidate has at least 5 years of engineering experience across different systems and domains, with a track record of shipping meaningful outcomes and the maturity to discuss both successes and setbacks honestly.

Curiosity, humility, mentoring instincts, comfort with constructive feedback, and openness to learning from others are also key parts of the role.

Technology Environment

• Languages and tools used include English, TypeScript, Java, Python, and SQL.
• Data platforms include PostgreSQL, DuckDB, Databricks, and both OLTP and OLAP systems.
• The stack is cloud-native on AWS, with Ansible, CDK, Datadog, Modal, and LangFuse.
• AI and LLM work uses OpenAI and Anthropic models, along with Pydantic, AI SDK, LangChain4J, XGBoost, and Prophet.
• The user interface stack includes React, Jotai, Redux Toolkit, BFF patterns, and data visualisation, with possible future use of WASM.
• The architecture includes a mix of serverless components, services, and a monolith.
• The team works in cycles and values communication over heavy process.
• Developer tooling includes Claude Code and Codex, reflecting a build-with-AI approach.

Location and Working Style

The role is based in Auckland and follows a hybrid arrangement, with 3 days in the office and 2 days working from home.

The company is open to different seniority levels. Whether you are a strong senior engineer or someone with 15 years of experience, compensation and title will be aligned appropriately.
