Role overview
This full-time sanitation role supports food safety and sanitation operations at the Decatur, Alabama manufacturing site. The technician will help ensure the facility stays aligned with the Food Safety Plan, sanitation standard operating procedures, and internal company standards.
Schedule
The position requires availability for the day shift on a 12-hour 2-2-3 rotating schedule.
Key responsibilities
- Carry out regular sanitation and janitorial work across the food production site, including equipment, buildings, and outdoor grounds.
- Monitor and verify that pest control systems are functioning as intended.
- Share observations and suggestions to help address environmental food safety concerns.
- Respond promptly when sanitation-related issues or disruptions occur in the facility.
- Handle other assigned tasks as needed.
Qualifications and experience
- A high school diploma or GED is required.
- At least 1 year of plant operational experience is required for internal candidates.
- Prior sanitation experience in a food manufacturing environment is preferred.
- Working knowledge of manufacturing processes is needed.
- The role calls for the ability to juggle multiple tasks in a fast-paced setting.
- Applicants should be comfortable following rules, procedures, and established standards.
- Success in a team-oriented workplace is important.
- Strong troubleshooting ability is expected.
- Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Word and Excel, is required.

Physical requirements
- Must be able to climb ladders and work at height.
- Should be able to use powered equipment such as fork trucks and scissor lifts.
- Must be capable of operating a forklift, floor scrubber, and other cleaning equipment.
- Requires the ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly.
- Must be able to push or pull up to 100 pounds occasionally.
- Will need to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Must be able to walk and stand on hard surfaces for extended periods.
Additional requirements
- Overtime may be required, sometimes with little advance notice.
- Some workweeks may extend to seven days.
- Confined space entry and fall protection certification or compliance is required.
- Strict attendance standards must be followed.
- This is a physically demanding position.
- Work will be performed under Good Manufacturing Practices and regulatory food safety requirements.
- The candidate should be comfortable working in a dynamic and continually changing environment.
