About the role
VEA Civils, part of VEA Group Limited, is an expanding civil engineering contractor working on infrastructure projects for the UK water sector. Due to ongoing growth and a healthy pipeline of work, the business is looking for an experienced and proactive Civils Site Manager / Project Manager to join the team.
This opportunity is well suited to someone with a strong background in clean water and wastewater infrastructure who wants to develop further within a growing and ambitious organisation.
Role overview
You will report into senior management and take ownership of the successful delivery of civil engineering projects from planning through to final handover. The work must be completed safely, on schedule, within budget and to a high standard of quality.
The portfolio includes clean water and wastewater schemes, with a strong focus on deep excavation, temporary works, utility installations and related civil engineering tasks.
Key responsibilities
- Oversee daily site activity and manage project delivery on the ground.
- Coordinate site teams, subcontractors, plant, materials and other resources.
- Make sure health, safety, environmental and quality standards are fully met.
- Build and maintain productive relationships with clients, stakeholders, suppliers and internal teams.
- Track programme progress, spending and allocation of resources.
- Carry out site inspections, audits, risk assessments and toolbox talks.
- Control excavation works and ensure they follow approved methods and safe systems of work.
- Manage the planning, execution and coordination of temporary works.
- Deliver projects to the agreed schedule, budget and client requirements.
- Keep accurate records, reports and project documentation.
Experience and requirements
- Prior experience in a Site Manager, Project Manager or similar leadership position within civil engineering.
- Demonstrable background delivering clean water and wastewater infrastructure projects.
- Good understanding of deep excavation activities and the safety controls they require.
- Experience overseeing temporary works activities and coordination.
- Strong communication, leadership and organisational ability.
- Commercial awareness together with solid project management capability.
- Full UK driving licence.
Preferred qualifications and accreditations
- SMSTS (Site Management Safety Training Scheme).
- NRSWA Supervisor Street Works qualification.
- Temporary Works Co-ordinator (TWC).
- EUSR SHEA Water.
- National Water Hygiene Card.
- First Aid at Work.
- Manual Handling.
- CAT and Genny Training.
