Operator, Shop-Explosive

Job Summary

This role is focused on the safe and efficient management of explosives and detonating equipment used in wireline logging activities. The operator is expected to work with precision, follow all required controls, and support smooth field operations while maintaining the highest safety standards.

Core Duties

• Handle, move, and store explosives and detonating devices in line with approved safety procedures and regulatory rules.
• Prepare explosive charges and detonation systems for wellbore deployment with accuracy and care.
• Carry out the deployment and detonation of explosive charges according to the operational plan and safety requirements.
• Work closely with the logging services team so explosive-related tasks align smoothly with wider logging operations.
• Follow all applicable UAE, ADNOC, ADNOC Drilling, and client Asset Integrity Management standards and codes of practice.

Policies, Training & Operational Practices

• Apply all relevant department policies, procedures, systems, and standards to meet operational goals.
• Deliver practical on-the-job training to support Competency Based Training initiatives for UAE Nationalization.
• Keep all company-issued tools, protective gear, and equipment in safe working condition.
• Arrange repair or replacement for any tool or safety item that is no longer fit for use.
• Complete maintenance work within the allotted time standards and inform the Maintenance Supervisor if extra support is needed to finish on time.
• Help identify opportunities to improve operating methods, functional processes, machinery, or equipment.

HSE, Housekeeping & Reporting

• Support a strong health, safety, environment, and sustainability culture by following all applicable policies, procedures, controls, legislation, and best practices.
• Keep the work area clean and orderly before, during, and after the job in line with hygiene and housekeeping standards.
• Gather technical information from the field as needed and contribute to section progress reports for management.
• Assist in preparing method statements and raise Near Miss reports when required.

Working Relationships

The role involves regular interaction with the Supervisor internally and no external working relationships.

Qualifications, Experience & Skills

• A high school diploma or an equivalent qualification is required.
• At least 2 years of experience in explosives handling or a closely related field is needed, preferably within oil and gas.
• Training or certification in explosives handling and safety, such as an Explosives Handler Certification, is highly preferred.
• Exposure to wireline logging operations and related equipment is considered an advantage.
• A strong safety mindset and strict adherence to safety procedures are essential.
• Good communication ability and the capacity to work effectively as part of a team are important.
• The job requires physical fitness and the ability to work in demanding conditions, including outdoor and offshore environments.

This position is a full-time, onsite role based in Abu Dhabi, Abu Dhabi Emirate, United Arab Emirates.
