Mechanical Design Engineer

Role overview

Mobco Group is looking for an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to support major projects in Riyadh and Khobar. This role calls for a professional with a solid track record in mechanical system design, review, and coordination for large construction developments, ideally gained in a leading contracting environment.

The selected candidate will handle the development and checking of mechanical designs, work closely with multiple disciplines, and make sure all work aligns with project requirements, local regulations, and recognized international engineering standards.

Core responsibilities

• Develop, verify, and coordinate mechanical design drawings and related calculations.
• Engineer HVAC, plumbing, drainage, and firefighting systems to meet project needs.
• Examine IFC drawings, specifications, and consultant-issued design submissions.
• Prepare technical submissions, engineering reports, calculations, and supporting documentation.
• Work in sync with architectural, structural, electrical, and BIM teams to maintain design integration.
• Carry out design checks to spot clashes, constructability concerns, and technical conflicts.
• Contribute to value engineering and design improvement initiatives.
• Attend technical discussions with consultants, clients, and other project stakeholders.
• Ensure designs comply with local authority rules, international codes, and project specifications.
• Assist construction and commissioning teams with technical input during site execution.
• Review material submissions and support technical assessment of suppliers and subcontractors.
• Support testing, commissioning, and final handover activities.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• At least 7 years of experience in mechanical design engineering.
• Prior experience with reputable contracting firms is required.
• Hands-on experience in HVAC, plumbing, drainage, and firefighting system design.
• Background in large-scale commercial, residential, hospitality, mixed-use, or infrastructure projects.
• Strong ability to work in multidisciplinary design and coordination settings.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD, Revit MEP, HAP, Navisworks, and Microsoft Office.
• Strong analytical thinking, technical judgment, and problem-solving ability.

Additional requirements

• Minimum relevant experience of 7 years.
• Experience in contracting companies is mandatory.
• Prior work on mega projects is mandatory.
• Experience in Saudi Arabia or the GCC region is highly preferred.
• Capability to coordinate effectively with consultants, contractors, and site teams is essential.
• Immediate availability is preferred.

This is a full-time onsite position based in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, with involvement in major project work across Riyadh and Khobar.
