Role overview
This position is part of the Engineering & Facilities team at Marriott Executive Apartments in Dubai. It is a full-time, non-management role focused on keeping guest rooms, public areas, equipment, and building systems in working order while supporting a safe and welcoming stay experience.
What you will do
- Handle guest repair requests promptly and work with guests to resolve maintenance concerns.
- Carry out preventive upkeep on tools, kitchen equipment, and mechanical room equipment, including cleaning and lubrication.
- Inspect tools, machinery, and equipment visually to spot issues before they become larger problems.
- Move and use tools and equipment as required, including radios and other maintenance items.
- Locate and operate shut-off valves and utility shut-offs for equipment and buildings when needed.
- Track maintenance inventory and request parts and supplies when stock runs low.
- Share daily work updates and open issues with other shifts using approved communication systems and standards.
- Work on basic tasks across air conditioning, refrigeration, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, pneumatic/electronic controls, carpentry, finishing, kitchen equipment, vehicles, energy conservation, and general building systems.
- Complete surface preparation, painting, minor drywall repair, wood trim touch-ups, light bulb changes, and air filter replacement, then clean the work area thoroughly.
- Test, diagnose, and carry out minor repairs on equipment, plumbing fixtures, electrical parts, lamps, cosmetic items, extension cords, vacuum cleaners, internet devices, switches, outlets, and other guestroom items.
- Program televisions and perform routine housekeeping and engineering inventory work.
- Use the lockout/tagout process before beginning maintenance work.
- Repair interior and exterior landscaping items, including sprinkler systems.
- Use basic computer functions to enter air handler schedules and adjust temperatures.
Compliance and conduct
- Follow company policies as well as all safety and security procedures.
- Report maintenance issues, safety risks, accidents, and injuries without delay.
- Complete required safety training and certifications and store flammable materials correctly.
- Maintain a neat, professional appearance and respect confidentiality.
- Protect company assets and provide warm, professional service to all guests.
- Support people with disabilities, acknowledge guests respectfully, and respond to service needs in line with company standards.
- Maintain quality standards and build positive working relationships with colleagues.
- Communicate clearly and professionally, and contribute to shared team goals.
- Perform physical tasks that may include lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, and placing objects up to 50 pounds without assistance, and heavier tasks with help.
- Move up and down stairs, ramps, and ladders; reach above the shoulders and below the knees; bend, twist, pull, and stoop as required.
- Use computers to access and enter work-related information.
- Take on other reasonable duties as assigned.
Preferred background
Some experience in general maintenance, as well as exterior and interior surface preparation and painting, is preferred. Experience in hotel engineering or hotel maintenance is an added advantage. No supervisory experience is required.
Qualifications
A high school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent is preferred. A valid driver’s license is required.
