Position Overview
The Maintenance Planner will be responsible for building, coordinating, and continuously improving maintenance plans for equipment and machinery so operations run reliably with minimal interruptions. The role calls for strong organization, technical awareness, and close teamwork with maintenance, engineering, operations, and vendor partners to keep work safe, efficient, and on schedule. This position involves preparing preventive maintenance programs, managing work orders, tracking maintenance history, estimating labor and materials, and supporting better asset performance through data-driven planning.
The planner will also review equipment records, prioritize requests, coordinate spare parts and tools, support compliance with safety and regulatory requirements, and help improve maintenance processes, uptime, and cost efficiency. Success in this role depends on strong CMMS knowledge, clear communication, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced production setting.
Responsibilities
- Build and update preventive maintenance schedules for plant equipment and machinery.
- Coordinate corrective, predictive, and emergency maintenance activities.
- Work with operations, engineering, and maintenance teams to align maintenance timing with production needs.
- Raise, manage, and track work orders in a CMMS platform.
- Prepare detailed job plans covering tools, parts, labor, and estimated execution time.
- Confirm that required spare parts and tools are available before scheduled maintenance begins.
- Plan maintenance windows with production teams to reduce operational disruption.
- Review incoming work requests and set priorities accordingly.
- Monitor equipment condition and analyze maintenance history for trends.
- Maintain compliance with safety procedures and regulatory requirements.
- Coordinate outsourced maintenance and spare parts support with vendors and contractors.
- Track maintenance KPIs and report performance results.
- Identify improvement opportunities that can reduce cost and increase reliability.
- Support root cause analysis and follow-up corrective actions.
- Keep complete and accurate maintenance records and equipment histories.
- Manage spare parts storage, inventory control, and related documentation.
- Initiate purchase requests for spare parts as needed.
- Use work order feedback and maintenance data to improve future planning and maintenance methods.
- Promote a safe workplace culture, including LOTO and permit-to-work practices.
- Take part in ISO audits and help develop maintenance procedures.
- Apply and sustain 5S practices to improve housekeeping, accessibility, and efficiency.
- Administer the CMMS by adding assets and sub-assets, creating asset codes, importing maintenance tasks, and loading spare parts data.
- Maintain accurate CMMS records, asset history, and supporting documentation.
Requirements
- Technical diploma or associate degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology, Electrical Engineering Technology, Industrial Maintenance, Mechatronics, or Industrial Engineering, with more than 7 years of experience in maintenance and at least 3 years as a maintenance planner.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or an equivalent qualification is preferred, along with more than 5 years of maintenance experience and at least 3 years in maintenance planning.
- Prior experience in the automotive industry is an advantage.
- Demonstrated experience in a maintenance planner role or a closely related position.
- Interest in electric vehicles and sustainable transportation.
- Willingness to work flexible hours in a production environment.
- Valid Saudi Arabia driver’s license.
- CMRP certification is an added advantage.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Strong understanding of safety and compliance requirements.
- Capability to read technical drawings and equipment manuals.
Preferred Skills
- Deep understanding of maintenance processes and industrial equipment.
- Hands-on experience with CMMS platforms such as SAP PM, Maximo, or Fiix.
- Strong maintenance planning and scheduling capability.
- Analytical thinking and problem-solving ability.
- Inventory and spare parts management.
- Multitasking and time management.
- Adaptability and flexibility in changing priorities.
- Knowledge of quality tools such as FMEA, 5 Whys, and Fishbone diagrams.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Basic familiarity with CAD and SolidWorks is a plus.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Attention to detail and good organizational habits.
