Role overview
The Pump Room in Bath is seeking a Kitchen Porter to help with the smooth, day-to-day running of the venue’s back-of-house operations. The role is based at the historic Pump Room, a Georgian landmark that has been part of Bath’s social life for over 200 years and has welcomed notable figures such as Jane Austen and Charles Dickens.
This is a full-time position in the back of house team, with a working pattern of 41 hours per week. The role is located on Stall Street, Bath, BA1, England, United Kingdom.
Compensation and working arrangement
Job type: Hours as required. Pay is £12.71 per hour plus Tronc. The position is onsite.

Key responsibilities
- Prepare food as directed by the chef team.
- Keep kitchen and restaurant spaces clean, organised, and presentable throughout the day.
- Deliver courteous, efficient, and hygienic service to customers.
- Be willing to support all kitchen areas, service counters, staff dining spaces, and external reception areas as needed.
- Maintain the highest standards of cleanliness and safety across kitchen and service areas on all floors.
- Adapt to different kitchen duties whenever required.
- Keep catering storage areas tidy, well organised, and clean.
- Receive, count, inspect, store, distribute, or dispose of goods and equipment as needed.
- Assist with food preparation and service when required.
- Report incidents or accidents immediately, including fire, theft, loss, damage, unsuitable food, or any other irregularity, and take appropriate action.
- Escalate any faulty equipment to the Executive Chef or Head Chef.
Experience and qualities sought
- Previous kitchen or cleaning experience is helpful but not required.
- Ability to work effectively in a busy, high-pressure environment.
- Strong focus on detail, cleanliness, and hygiene.
- Team-oriented approach.
- Good communication skills.
