About the role

n8n is a workflow orchestration platform designed for the AI era, giving technical teams the flexibility of code with the speed of no-code automation. The company supports builders with a large integration ecosystem and a strong community, and it operates as a remote-first organization with a major hub in Berlin.

This leadership role is focused on creating n8n’s Forward Deployment function from the ground up. The goal is to turn important enterprise customers into long-term growth accounts through hands-on implementation, technical enablement, and reusable deployment methods.

The role begins in a highly hands-on capacity as a player-coach while the function is being proven out. During that phase, you will act as a Deployment Strategist, hire and work alongside the first Forward Deployed Engineer, and help shape the operating model. Once the team is ready to scale, you will move fully into leadership and build out the wider team.

What you will do

  • Design the end-to-end approach for selecting strategic accounts, scoping engagements, running 5-day on-site boot camps, tracking outcomes, and transferring customers smoothly to Customer Success.
  • Create the working model for a paired Deployment Strategist and Forward Deployed Engineer setup, starting with the first engineering hire.
  • Recommend, with clear judgment, when n8n should build capabilities internally and when external partners make more sense.
  • Run high-touch enterprise deployments, including executive kickoffs, closeout meetings, and ongoing adoption storytelling.
  • Identify the people and dynamics inside customer organizations, including champions, power users, and decision-makers, and navigate the relationships that affect adoption.
  • Translate automation value into business outcomes using the customer’s own language and priorities.
  • Convert lessons from the field into repeatable playbooks and reusable use-case patterns.
  • Work closely with the Forward Deployed Engineer to focus on the problems that matter most to customer value.
  • Build a library of deployment playbooks that can be reused across similar enterprise environments.
  • Bring customer feedback back into the company so Product understands adoption blockers, technical gaps, and real-world deployment needs.
  • Advocate for customers internally when issues threaten success.

Requirements

  • Proven leadership in forward deployment, implementation leadership, or technical customer success within a high-growth B2B software environment.
  • Direct experience working on-site with large enterprise customers and delivering measurable adoption results.
  • Strong technical understanding, with enough fluency to discuss architecture, question decisions, and present credibly to senior technical stakeholders such as a CTO.
  • Ability to navigate complex organizations, identify real decision-makers, and build trust across different levels.
  • Experience hiring, onboarding, or coaching technical, customer-facing team members.
  • Sound strategic judgment on whether to internalize work or rely on partners, along with the confidence to present that view to leadership.
  • Fluent English communication skills for high-stakes customer conversations.
  • Additional European languages are an advantage.
  • Experience with automation, workflow tools, integration platforms, or technical products used by IT, SecOps, or DevOps teams is a plus.
  • A track record of expanding enterprise deployments into renewals, broader adoption, or additional revenue is beneficial.
  • Experience building a new function, operating model, or playbook from zero to one in a fast-growing company is valuable.

Why this opportunity stands out

You would be defining a brand-new capability at the point where enterprise customers are actively asking for it. The work will directly influence how strategic accounts adopt n8n, how enterprise scale is achieved, and how Product learns from real deployment behavior in large organizations.

The company offers a remote-first environment, strong momentum, and a culture centered on autonomy, experimentation, and ownership. It is also a chance to shape the methodology, hire the first team members, and create the playbooks that will guide enterprise delivery for years.

Eligibility and working model

This role is open to candidates who can work remotely and participate in enterprise customer engagements, including on-site sessions when required. n8n can sponsor visas for Germany. For any other country, you must already have the legal right to work. The company language is English.

Equal opportunity

n8n is an equal opportunity employer and welcomes applicants regardless of race, religion, colour, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, age, marital status, veteran status, or disability status.

Location note

If multiple versions of the same role appear, it is because the company hires remotely and may post in different locations so candidates can find the listing that best matches where they expect to work.
