Role overview
The Finance Analyst for F1 Chassis Inventory supports planning, business partnering, controls, and reporting activities tied to inventory. Working alongside the Senior Finance Business Partner for F1 Chassis Inventory, this position focuses on carrying out transactional and reporting tasks with accuracy, consistency, and prompt delivery. The role helps maintain reliable inventory data and reporting that support decisions across Finance, Supply Chain, and Technical functions, while also contributing to improvements in the tools and processes used for inventory work.
Key responsibilities
- Assist with internal financial planning, control, and reporting for inventory-related activities.
- Support statutory and FIA inventory reporting requirements.
- Help deliver the monthly inventory valuation and recognition process in line with FIA and statutory accounting standards.
- Produce regular inventory reports, dashboards, and analysis for internal users.
- Carry out transactional finance work for inventory, including data checks, reconciliations, and journal support.
- Support cost control and business decisions by helping non-finance stakeholders understand reports, analysis, and FIA Financial Regulations.
- Contribute to purchase order sign-off decisions by considering car assembly demand, child part demand, shared parts, obsolescence risk, and economies of scale.
- Maintain accuracy, consistency, and clarity in inventory financial data and reporting.
- Work with the Cost Performance Business Partner to review data quality and monitor inventory categorisation in line with financial regulations, car classifications, event allocation, purchase orders, and internal jobs.
- Support the finance side of the RBT inventory count process, including mid-year and year-end counts.
- Assist with the RBT statutory and FIA inventory financial audit.
- Share knowledge with the RBPT and RBAT Finance teams whenever work may affect them, through monthly forums or ad hoc discussions.
- Help improve the tools used to analyse and report inventory data.
- Contribute to ongoing improvements in inventory finance processes, controls, and reporting methods.
Experience and skills
- Advanced Microsoft Excel capability.
- Strong grounding in data science.
- SQL and Python experience is an advantage.
- Part-qualified CIMA or ACCA is preferred.
- Background in a Finance Analyst or similar role, ideally with exposure to inventory or supply chain finance.
- Good understanding of inventory accounting, valuation, and recognition principles.
