Role overview
Aventus is looking for an Equity Analyst to support its equity investment work in Doha, Qatar. The role reports to the CEO and Portfolio Managers and focuses on researching listed equity opportunities, supporting investment discussions, and maintaining high-quality research materials for the team.
Key responsibilities
The analyst will review top-down themes and company-specific ideas, build investment cases, and prepare research for discussion with the Equity Team and the Sub-Investment Committee. The position also involves maintaining active relationships with portfolio companies and exploring new opportunities through regular company contact and market research.
This role includes travel of around 2 to 3 weeks each year to meet with portfolio companies and identify additional investment ideas. The analyst is also expected to keep research databases updated with notes, investment theses, financial models, ESG scorecards, and relevant market or industry data. In addition, the role includes supporting team administration and documentation related to client commitments, processes, and procedures.
Experience and profile
The ideal candidate has 3 to 5 years of equity research experience, with exposure to MENA or other emerging markets preferred. A bachelor’s degree in Economics, Finance, or Humanities is preferred, and candidates working toward the CFA qualification are also encouraged. Strong numerical and analytical ability is essential, along with the capability to build financial models and assess the intrinsic value of investment opportunities.
Skills and working style
The role calls for excellent communication skills, strong attention to detail, solid organization, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team. A good understanding of emerging markets and the fund management business is important, along with advanced Microsoft Office proficiency.
