Role Overview
This remote contract position is for an experienced and engaging Epic Credentialed Trainer who can help healthcare teams adopt and use Epic EMR effectively. The role suits someone who enjoys teaching, coaching, and delivering practical support in large healthcare technology rollouts.
You will work with clinicians, physicians, and non-clinical employees to build confidence in Epic workflows, documentation tools, and system features. In this role, you will partner with Principal Trainers and other stakeholders to create strong learning experiences that support successful implementation.
What You Will Do
- Lead instructor-based training for clinical, physician, and non-clinical users in virtual as well as classroom settings.
- Run study halls, hands-on labs, and interactive practice sessions to strengthen learner confidence and proficiency.
- Set up training materials, class lists, and learning spaces before each session.
- Administer user competency checks and share training results.
- Offer hands-on support during Epic go-live events.
- Work with Principal Trainers to refine curriculum content, job aids, and other learning resources.
- Support testing of training environments and system updates so materials stay accurate and useful.
- Track how effective training is and suggest improvements where needed.
- Respond to learner questions and provide timely follow-up assistance.
- Encourage adoption of the system and help drive successful implementation results.
Required Qualifications
Candidates must be able to earn Epic Credentialed Trainer status within six weeks, including passing the required exams and teaching evaluations. A minimum of 5 years of experience in training, learning facilitation, education, or a closely related area is required. Strong public speaking, communication, and classroom facilitation abilities are essential. Experience delivering virtual or instructor-led training is also needed. The person in this role should be able to work independently while also collaborating well across teams. Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite and virtual meeting tools such as Zoom is expected. The ideal candidate will also bring strong interpersonal skills, a helpful attitude, and an interest in technology and end-user success.
Preferred Background
Preference will be given to candidates with an associate degree or higher, or equivalent professional experience. Experience in healthcare, clinical operations, or healthcare technology is a plus. Prior involvement in Epic training, implementation, or go-live support is highly valued. Additional experience in adult learning, instructional design, or learning management systems would be beneficial, as would familiarity with Cornerstone or similar LMS platforms. Coaching, mentoring, preceptor work, or exposure to change management principles will also be considered an advantage.
