Job summary

This role is seconded to the Office of the DGCA as an Aerodrome Inspector, supporting the legal requirement to assist the Aerodrome Standards Directorate in DGCA under Civil Aviation Requirements, Section 4, Series A, Part I.

Key accountabilities

  • Carry out inspections of aerodromes, heliports, and waterdromes for the grant or renewal of aerodrome licences, ensuring every scheduled inspection is completed as directed by DGCA.
  • Conduct recurring inspections and surveillance checks of aerodromes and heliport operators in line with DGCA timelines.
  • Review and process applications, Aerodrome Manuals, and Safety Management Manuals related to aerodrome licence issuance.
  • Assess and process proposed changes submitted by aerodrome operators in accordance with Rule 83 and AD AC 01 of 2012.
  • Inspect and verify compliance for approvals related to special operations.
  • Take on any additional duties assigned by DGCA from time to time.
  • Work closely with DGCA on aerodrome and licensing matters, including timely renewals, surveillance inspections, and changes to airside infrastructure at GVIAL.
  • Perform any other responsibilities assigned by the COO, Head Airside Management, AGM - Airside Planning, or other senior GVIAL leadership as required.

External interactions

This position requires regular coordination with the Office of the Directorate General of Civil Aviation, Airports Authority of India, private aerodrome and heliport operators, airlines, and airport meteorology departments.

Internal interactions

Within the organisation, the role works closely with the Airside Operations, Airside Planning, Safety and Compliance, Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, and Master Planning teams, as well as GVIAL stakeholders.

The role acts as an interface between DGCA and DIAL, GHIAL, and GVIAL. It also contributes to strengthening the organisation’s standing with DGCA through consistent professionalism and technical capability. Education and experience

Applicants should hold any graduation degree or a postgraduate diploma in Business Administration. The role expects more than 15 years of relevant experience in areas such as airfield operations, airfield maintenance projects, bird hazard management, civil aviation regulatory systems, aerodrome licensing, preparation of procedures and documents, training and development of airfield drivers, planning and organising, equipment induction, terminal management, and briefings in ATC and other airside areas.
