Role overview

Lyft is hiring a Data Analyst for its People Analytics team in Toronto. The role reports to the Senior Manager, People Analytics and will act as the main intake point for data requests from across the People organization. The analyst will assess, prioritize, and deliver work ranging from quick one-off data pulls to fully developed ThoughtSpot dashboards.

The position comes at an important time, as Lyft completes the move from Tableau to ThoughtSpot. The person in this role will help shape the reporting foundation and expand the use of ThoughtSpot’s AI features such as natural-language search, AI-generated insights, and anomaly detection for people data. This is a build-and-improve role, not just a maintenance role, and it suits someone who is comfortable with SQL as well as presenting results to senior leadership.

Responsibilities

  • Act as the first contact for data requests from the People organization by clarifying needs, setting timelines, and delivering accurate analytical outputs.
  • Create and support ThoughtSpot dashboards and liveboards for recruiters, People team members, HR business partners, managers, and executives.
  • Test and implement ThoughtSpot AI features, including Spotter and AI Highlights, to help surface useful insights for stakeholders who may not know the exact question to ask.
  • Design, run, and close out surveys in Qualtrics, then convert the results into dashboards and ad hoc analyses that guide People decisions.
  • Work with Talent and People leaders to define metrics and help them communicate data-backed stories.
  • Turn analytical work into clear, practical recommendations for People leadership and senior executives.
  • Communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences, from SQL discussions to executive summaries.
  • Partner with systems and operations teams to strengthen source data quality and improve downstream reporting.
  • Assemble ad hoc datasets from multiple sources to respond quickly and accurately to focused analytical questions.

Requirements

  • At least 4 years of experience in data analytics or business analytics.
  • At least 3 years of SQL experience, including work with complex, multi-source data environments.
  • Hands-on experience with ThoughtSpot or another modern BI platform, plus interest in AI-assisted analytics.
  • Working knowledge of Workday or a similar HCM system, including the related business processes and data structure.
  • Familiarity with Greenhouse or a similar ATS is preferred.
  • Experience with Qualtrics or a similar survey tool, including survey administration and analysis from raw data to stakeholder-ready output.
  • Experience building and maintaining analytical models that others depend on.
  • Strong understanding of people and recruiting data, including organizational structures, headcount definitions, privacy concerns, and data anomalies.
