The opportunity

The Sealing team has a strong reputation for high-quality work across New Zealand. With the season beginning in September, the Penrose-based crew is hiring dedicated Chip Runners and Class 2 to Class 5 Driver Operators. These are permanent full-time roles with 40 hours guaranteed each week. The positions sit under the Greater Auckland Regions AWUNZ union agreement, which includes overtime, allowances, and other penal rate entitlements.

Open roles

Class 2-4 Driver Operator

• Carry out roller and/or broom operations during sealing work
• Perform daily equipment inspections and routine basic upkeep
• Work alongside the crew to complete road sealing projects safely and efficiently
• Minimum requirement: Class 2 full licence and WTR; civil or chip-sealing background is preferred

Class 5 Driver Operator

• Operate and tow a 6-wheeler trailer
• Drive both automatic and Road Ranger transmission vehicles
• Move plant, tools, and materials between worksites
• Assist the sealing team to ensure work is delivered safely and efficiently
• Minimum requirement: Class 5 full licence and WTR; civil or chip-sealing background is preferred

Chip Runner / Labourer

• Carry out general labouring duties
• Support the chip spreading truck as a spotter
• Help manage application rates and hand-spread chip seal where needed
• Follow all health and safety procedures and standards
• Minimum requirement: Class 1 full licence; civil experience is preferred
