Overview
Qatar Airways Cargo is hiring a Cargo Inventory Analytics Specialist in Doha to support the team that manages inventory controls across the Qatar Airways network. The role sits within Cargo & Airport Operations and focuses on improving how cargo capacity is allocated between allotments, free-sale space, overbooking, and other commercial controls.
The cargo business is evolving quickly, with major shifts toward digital end-to-end processes, e-commerce, and digital freight marketplaces. In this environment, the company is seeking analytical talent that can help shape and implement smarter inventory strategies across passenger and freighter flights.
Key Responsibilities
You will work closely with the Cargo Inventory Analytics Manager to design, analyse, and support the execution of inventory strategies across the network. The position involves using data, modelling, and statistical analysis to improve revenue opportunities while managing capacity risk.
- Assess and apply optimal seasonal allocation levels across the cargo network to reduce exposure to market swings while still capturing ad-hoc demand.
- Set commercial entry rules for structural demand such as RFQs and allocations so the most valuable long-term business is accepted on both freighter and passenger services.
- Build and refine entry criteria for ad-hoc demand so that market changes are reflected and cargo revenue potential is maximised.
- Use data analysis and optimisation models to recommend better commercial control settings and support ongoing process improvement.
- Share new and updated inventory control initiatives with regional stakeholders and the wider revenue management team, ensuring they understand and support the changes.
- Bring forward ideas for improving inventory control decisions in team discussions or to the line manager.
- Evaluate seasonal payload restrictions on affected routes and implement capacity controls that optimise those routes throughout the season.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree and at least 4 years of experience in a related job function.
- Hands-on experience with data modelling tools and large-scale data analysis.
- Strong understanding of statistical methods such as regression, hypothesis testing, probability distributions, treatment effects, and related concepts.
- Ability to explain complex analytical ideas clearly to audiences without technical backgrounds.
- Strong preference for candidates familiar with machine learning methods, statistical modelling, optimisation, simulation, and model evaluation.
- Prior exposure to the air cargo sector is preferred.
- Proficiency with modelling tools such as R and Python.
