About the role

CPP Investments is seeking an Analyst to join its Growth Equity team in Toronto. The group focuses on generating attractive long-term returns through fund commitments and GP-aligned direct co-investments with leading venture capital and growth equity managers across North America and Europe. The team sits within the Funds group of the Private Equity platform and partners closely with colleagues across the organization.

In this position, you will gain hands-on exposure to innovative companies, leading investment managers, and fast-growing sectors while developing core skills in investing and asset management. The role combines research, analysis, diligence, execution support, portfolio monitoring, and relationship management.

The ideal candidate is proactive, intellectually curious, and comfortable working in a collaborative environment. Strong judgment, analytical thinking, and an interest in artificial intelligence and emerging technologies are especially important. This position also involves regular in-office collaboration and periodic travel to support diligence, relationship management, and investment execution.

Key responsibilities

  • Research markets, industries, companies, and funds to uncover opportunities, emerging themes, and potential risks.
  • Develop financial models, evaluate expected returns, and carry out both qualitative and quantitative analysis to inform investment decisions.
  • Support due diligence work, including management meetings, reference checks, and interactions with fund managers and other industry participants.
  • Draft investment memos, presentations, and supporting documents for internal review and decision-making.
  • Track portfolio company and fund performance and assist with ongoing asset management activities.
  • Build and sustain relationships with fund managers, company leaders, advisors, and internal stakeholders.
  • Study developments in AI and other emerging technologies and assess how they may affect investments, portfolio companies, and the wider growth equity ecosystem.
  • Contribute to strategic projects and collaborate with teams across Growth Equity, Private Equity, and the broader firm.

What we're looking for

  • An undergraduate degree with strong academic results in Business, Commerce, Economics, Engineering, Mathematics, Computer Science, or a closely related discipline.
  • 1-2 years of relevant experience in investment banking, consulting, private equity, venture capital, growth equity, asset management, technology, engineering, or a similar field.
  • A clear interest in investing, technology, innovation, and assessing businesses, markets, and new trends.
  • Strong analytical and quantitative ability, including research, financial analysis, valuation, and investment due diligence.
  • Experience creating financial models and turning analysis into recommendations that support investment decisions.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and relationship-building skills, with the ability to simplify complex information and work effectively across teams.
  • Curiosity about emerging technologies, especially artificial intelligence, along with an interest in how they influence business and investment opportunities. Experience using AI-enabled tools in the investment process is an advantage.
  • Professional conduct aligned with Integrity, Partnership, and High Performance.
