Role Overview
This position supports store performance by driving sales, protecting company assets, maintaining operational standards, and helping lead the store team. The role requires a strong customer focus, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently while upholding company policies and retail procedures.
Sales and Customer Service
- Contribute to store profitability by delivering strong customer service and supporting sales growth.
- Work toward meeting or exceeding company targets across individual performance metrics.
- Learn to create consistent, documented sales performance evaluations for associates and provide feedback that highlights strengths and development areas while staying aligned with company goals.
- Follow visual merchandising standards, including correct signage, product presentation, and store cleanliness.
- Maintain a professional appearance in line with the company dress code policy.
Operational and Inventory Duties
- Help safeguard company assets in accordance with LIDS retail policies and procedures.
- Support scheduling efforts so the store has appropriate staffing levels while staying within labour cost control guidelines.
- Follow all policies related to inventory management, including receiving, transfers, markdowns, and merchandise counting.
- Carry out accurate merchandise counts consistently and on time.
- Maintain proper records and documentation in line with LIDS retail policies and applicable provincial and federal laws.
- Open and close the store according to the store operations manual.
Team Leadership
- Take part in LIDS training programs, work toward set sales and task goals, and provide regular follow-up.
- Assist with recruiting and training store staff on correct store operations and procedures.
- Promote compliance with company policies, procedures, and guidelines, including the protection of inventory, company property, and funds.
- Step in to perform subordinate duties when needed.
- Communicate effectively with employees.
Requirements
- Secondary school diploma or equivalent, plus at least 1 year of relevant experience.
- Proven ability to generate sales while keeping losses under control.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate clearly and professionally.
- Comfortable using a computer and software applications.
- Ability to lift up to 23 kg (50 lbs).
- Ability to climb a ladder and work with arms raised overhead.
- Standing is required for up to 100% of the workday.
- Ability to work without direct supervision.
